The resultant road trip through the sun drenched mountains took me, my friends Chris and Dan, and Chris’ little boy Tom to the Dolgellau 5km Parkrun. Hurtling past the forested hills to the tune of the Monster mash reminded me how much fun the stuff around running can be 🙂
The run itself started from the carpark just outside the stone quarried market town and works alongside the river and the old railway line, describing two loops, out and back along the Mawddach Trail.
Starting from the car park, the course was an increadibly flat trail and headed towards Barmouth, today past a dead shrew, over the footbridge and turned just after a picnic bench all the whike under a tunnel of deciduous trees which were vibrant in the sunshine of the morning and the water from last night.
It was great fun to meet everyone as the race overlapped; Dan several minutes ahead and little Tom ‘high-fiving’ (with his Dad on support) and putting in his fastest 5k behind.
As we sat in T H Roberts cafe afterwards with tea and chocolate brownies it was great to pass the time and swap stories in the wood paneled room, the atmosphere hightened by it coincidentaly being the weekend that the renowned Sesiwn Fawr festival takes place in the town!
I’m running a mile each day everyday for 2017. If you feel you can sponsor me please do, as all the money raised will go to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) who provide services all across the UK to support people affected by it.
Distance: 4981.0 meters recorded
(1 mile = 1609.34 m.)
Thanks as ever for all the support!
