Day 181 Mile 181: Grenfell Fundraiser. Today several friends, my daughter, and I have run for 24 mins; one for each floor of the tower that tragically caught fire on 14th June. We all chipped in to sign up for the event and it certainly covers today’s mile.
It’s a bit of a drizzly day today which is a shame but certainly didn’t stop us running 12 mins along the coast including some mamoth waves breaking over headhight along the prom before aiming for the illuminated dryness of the surf school with its tea and biscuits!
Although it is a slightly sombre thing, it’s actually really nice just to get out and do stuff sociably.
Thoughts go to those directly affected by the event which is still having terrible repercussions.
Events like this force you to reflect on the things that you value and therefore I will close the body of today’s blog with what feels like a casual set of lines but on consideration is actually very important.
It was great to get out with Chris and Laura (who initally found out about it) as ever thanks must also to my daughter Alena (age 9) who joins in and tolerates the silliness which is my life! Hugs to all of you.
I’m running a mile each day everyday for 2017. If you feel you can sponsor me please do, as all the money raised will go to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) who provide services all across the UK to support people affected by it.
Distance: 3303.4 meters recorded
(1 mile = 1609.34 m.)
Thanks as ever for all the support!
Never actually heard this unroll just after we had run as the chart show was on the radio. Bit of a tearjerker based on the timing and the literal troubled water we had just been through!
