Day 158 Mile 158 #GlobalRunningDay. Apparently it is Global Running Day, which is news to me, but it seems like a topical one to mark! Personally today is day 158 of my running year but it is nice to know that other people are out there having fun too.
Today the weather is better, if somewhat windy and I’m still trying to keep things sensible having twinged something in my foot on Saturday. So, setting out from the front door I turned to the west into the wind and uphill, knowing that it would be far nicer on the way back.
There is an odd feel to the day today, the soil and ground are still wet from the recent deluges but the air feels clear in spite of this and the encapsulating ceiling of the low cloud. The big hoardings advocating electoral candidates, smiling down benevolently from their lofty position feel disconnected against the pebble dashed walls and slated roofs. Their primary colours and commanding fonts, blurring with the directions of road signs and warnings, espousing meeting at the Rendezvous Point at the end of the tunnel.
Working along the edge of the mountain and reaching the turning point I was greeted with shafts of sunlight coming through the clouds over the village. In the present situation it seemed so stereotypically poetic as to feel mildly ridiculous, less like a renaissance painting than a Terry Gilliam reinterpretation of one.
Good luck to everyone else getting out and running today, especially those taking part in the Llandegfan Fun Run including Chris ‘Buggy’ Williams and little Thomas. I hope it stays dry for you, sorry I’m not yet back up to full speed to join you… yet!
I’m running a mile each day everyday for 2017. If you feel you can sponsor me please do, as all the money raised will go to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) who provide services all across the UK to support people affected by it.

Thanks as ever for all the support!
Today’s earworm seems appropriate, some things haven’t moved on much. Dig out your voting cards out for tomorrow!
