Day 94 mile 94: Wide Vista Woodpecker. Part of the wonderful thing about trying to run every day is that it enforces some degree of exploration, as running the same route daily for an entire year would be tedious in the extreme! Today finds me high up in the hills running along part of the North Wales Path above the village of Llanfairfechan. As the crow flies this is not far from home at all, but being the ‘wrong’ side of the headland it means that I have never actually been along this section of the 62 mile route even though it is so close to where I live.
It is a long muddy pull, up through the hills up a track rimmed with piercing yellow gorse and spectacular views back over the Menai straits.
It also seems that the gate by the start sits next to the abode of the loudest woodpecker I have ever heard. It took a minute or two of listening to convince myself that the cause of the din really was avian and not from the quarry just over the ridge!
It’s lovely to get the opportunity to be out and notice these small wonders.
Thanks for all the support as ever!
I’m running a mile each day everyday for 2017. If you feel you can sponsor me please do, as all the money raised will go to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) who provide services all across the UK to support people affected by it.
