Day 63 mile 63: Five K Faraway. Today sees my last day in the city of Aberystwyth, it is a Saturday and there is a Parkrun on. Rolling out of hotel bed throwing a cup of tea down the neck, tripping over conference papers and hauling on shoes, all so worth it 🙂
Surprisingly the Parkrun actually takes place in a park! It’s a long and narrow belt of green hidden behind a set of gates on a roundabout, which stretches away across the city forming a bird inhabited artery of daffodils and crocuses across the valley floor. It is full of really friendly runners and organizers and it is wonderful to drop into a scene which is so welcoming. Big thanks to Phil (didn’t catch his last name) who ran with me for the last 2km. We had been leap-frogging past each other ever since the start, really nice to have a natter instead of just battlin for the overtake. We crossed the line together I hope your new unofficial new PB turns out to be the case mate!
I have to be brief as this is all on my phone today so as to be able to upload today’s run today, suffice to say it was great, Aberystwyth is wonderful and I now have a long drive home!
Thanks to everyone (especially the runners and volunteers of Aberystwyth Parkrun) for their support.
I’m running a mile each day everyday for 2017. If you feel you can sponsor me please do, as all the money raised will go to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) who provide services all across the UK to support people affected by it.
