Day 42 mile 42: 5k Fajitas

Day 42 mile 42: 5k Fajitas. Brrrr! It feels particularly cold this morning. It’s the sort of day that makes you feel like investing in a weather station, or at least an outside thermometer just so you can go “Oh, I was right!”

Today I’m back at the Conwy Parkrun having set myself the target of doing it in under 30 mins, or if that doesn’t feel achievable revising it to sub 31:17 on the way around, an thus raising my all-time average speed if I can’t make it under the 1/2 hour.

This would be all well and good, were it not for the rather spicy dinner we had last night. Starting off the run was fine but by the turnaround point i.e. about as far from the toilet as it is possible to get, the chillies were really starting to get to work.

This leaves one in something of a delicate dilemma do you: a) run faster and get to the loo double quick, risking an escalation of an already delicate situation, or, do you b) slow down try to keep things under control and hope it goes away?

Suffice it to say I smashed my target by over 30 seconds, coming in at 29:26 on my watch… without incident, and setting a new unofficial PB! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. We all know that this challenge is not about going fast, or even really getting significantly quicker, but it’s nice when it happens.

As ever thanks for all the support especially to the people who asked how this is all going as we were all running around today!

Best wishes (and enjoy the Wales v England rugby later!)

P.S. Well that was consistent, even with big push at the end!
