Day 41 mile 41: Tempo Track. This morning as part of my bid to run 1 mile everyday this year for me and for charity; I headed back to the track (for the second time this millennium!) jumped the still padlocked gate and ran around in circles for a bit. It is still really early and although the birds have woken up in the surround woodland, the frost is still cresting the grass under the gray sky.
Having aimed for an even pace last time I went on a track, I tried for a regular cadence this time, feet hitting the floor at a consistent (albeit slow in the grand scheme of things) number of times a minute.
It turns out to be great fun, putting some music on at the right speed and bipping about the place.
All of a sudden running in a loop feels epic, with left foot on the beat and right foot on the off beats, or reversed if you prefer to think with hands! I’m not usually a fan of this sort of running, not being fast enough to really make something of it and liking going out and exploring places, however today with a bit of music on and the entire place to myself it was great fun 🙂
As a bit of backstory, I’m running a mile each day everyday for 2017. If you feel you can sponsor me please do, by clicking the Justgiving icon below. All the money raised will go to the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) who provide services all across the UK to support people affected by it.
Distance: 1623.5 meters recorded
