Day 22 mile 22: Along the sand. This afternoon I looked out of the window and the tide was out, so I took advantage. This was for several reasons: firstly it has lower impact on bones and tendons than running on a hard surface; second, it’s actually harder work and therefore as training goes represents more ‘bang for the buck’, and finally having been listening to the audio-book of Dune by Frank Herbert running though the sand felt particularly epic.

However if you chose to use a rock in the distance as a marker to keep you in a strait line across the sand, make sure it doesn’t turn out to be a jackdaw ūüôā
